- Charter for the Washington Area Baha'i Computer User's Group (WABCUG)
-
- OBJECTIVE
-
- WABCUG is an organization of Baha'is in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan
- area dedicated to assisting local Baha'i Institutions and teaching work
- of the Baha'i Faith through the application of technology and education
- in the fields of computers and telecommunications .

- SPONSORSHIP
-
- WABCUG is sponsored by the Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of
- Washington D.C. (hereafter referred to as the Assembly). WABCUG shall
- provide minutes of all WABCUG meetings to the Assembly.

- MEMBERSHIP
-
- WABCUG membership is open to any Baha'i. Those Baha'is having expertise
- in computer, telecommunications, or related fields are encouraged to
- participate.

- OFFICERS
-
- WABCUG members will annually elect a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary,
- and Treasurer in accordance with Baha'i Law and procedures set forth in
- the Guidelines for Local Spiritual Assemblies.

- GROUP TASKS
-
- WABCUG will, as required or deemed appropriate by the membership, form
- working groups to accomplish specific, defined tasks that are congruent
- with the WABCUG objective. Working group reports will be made at each
- WABCUG meeting and will be submitted to the Secretary in writing for
- inclusion in the minutes.

- Tasking for WABCUG can come from any Baha'i or non-Baha'i organization
- but all tasking must be reviewed and approved by the Assembly.

- COORDINATION OF EFFORTS

- WABCUG will regularly publicize its activities to other organizations
- and individuals engaged in the establishment and evolution of the Baha'i
- worldwide electronic network. As a minimum, such other organizations
- shall include the Baha'i National Center (BNC), the Baha'i International
- Community (BIC) and the Baha'i World Center (BWC). WABCUG shall also
- publicize its activities to the readership of the Baha'i-Tech mailing
- list through periodic posting of task reports to that forum. In this
- manner, WABCUG will promote coordination and avoid unnecessary
- duplication of efforts already undertaken by others. Upon Assembly
- approval WABCUG products may be made available to other organizations.

- REPORTING AND RECORD KEEPING

- The Secretary of WABCUG shall be responsible for providing to the
- Assembly, copies of all meeting minutes including the reports from
- established working groups. The Secretary shall maintain a log of
- activities and projects undertaken by WABCUG. The log shall, as a
- minimum, record a statement of the task, the organization requesting the
- task, the date of the request, the date of initiation of effort, the
- members assigned responsibility for the task (a working group), a
- summary of efforts performed to date, and upon completion, the resulting
- product or service and the completion date. The Secretary shall prepare
- and submit an annual report to the Assembly each Naw Ruz.

- The Treasurer of WABCUG, under the direction of the Assembly Treasurer,
- shall be responsible to the Assembly for the accounting records of all
- monies and items of value received and disbursed by WABCUG. The records
- shall be sufficient to allow the Assembly Treasurer to issue accurate
- receipts for contributions made to WABCUG. The Treasurer of WABCUG
- shall maintain the confidentiality of all contributions. Every Baha'i
- month, the Treasurer shall submit reports to the Assembly Treasurer
- which provide an accounting of income and expenditures for the month, a
- balance statement, and an inventory of all real property held including
- its location.

- Instructions for the BTC Monthly

- 1. Introduction.
-
- The purpose of the Baha'i Technical Consultancy (BTC) Monthly is to
- communicate to the Global Baha'i Community the accomplishments,
- milestones, or problems discovered by the participating BTC members, BTC
- working groups, and local Baha'i computer user groups. Staff members
- serving at Baha'i Institutions are encouraged to submit reports.

- This report is for Baha'i purposes only, and is not to be quoted in
- other publications without permission from the submitter.

- 2. Submissions
-
- All coordinators and staff of Baha'i computer and telecommunications
- projects are encouraged to submit a 1/2 page report by the 12th business
- day of the month describing the previous month's activities.

- Coordinators of Baha'i Electronic Conferences and Teaching Forums are
- encouraged to submit statistics on their Electronic Conference. These
- statistics may include:

- - The number of members last month.
- - The number of members this month.
- - Percent change of members.
- - List of participating countries.
- - Significant Events.
